Experience fast food with a Maldivian twist!

Red Cap fast food is located on second floor of Hotel Relax Inn. Its famous place for fast food among maldivian teen agers. Their staff is friendly but not efficient and food is just okay.
They are offering burgers, pizzas, drum sticks, steaks, breakfast, short eats, desserts, milk shakes and ice creams.
I tried their chicken burger deal which was just okay. However chocolate balls were really delicious. Chicken burger meal cost me 18 ruffiya ($ 1.5) and chocolate ball was 2 ruffiya each.

Shell Beans is located near Maale’ beach. Its expensive Italian coffee house serving wide variety of coffee and desserts. Its interior is very impressive and give you feeling if you are sitting in some European coffee house. Their coffee and desserts are really good although but a bit expensive. My favorite was their Cappuccino with fresh n delicious chocolate cake. One cup of Cappuccino costs US $1.5 (18 Maldivian Ruffiya).

Spend your holidays in ultimate privacy without sacrificing luxurious comforts, It can only happen here in the Maldives

When staying on your resort Island there are usually a choice of the main restaurants, that serve a vast array of International food on a buffet basis. Or, if you choose you can eat in the A La Carte restaurants. If you stay on half or full board basis then meals are taken in the main restaurant or a supplement can be paid to dine elsewhere, which often makes a nice change- many Islands have a great selection of Thai, Indian, Chinese and Seafood restaurants.
Wherever you dine we have found that the food is excellent, and there is always plenty of it.
Maldivian is a nice mix of beautiful fresh salads, seafood and delicate curry dishes, very similar to Thai and Chinese.

Try some local treats from the Male’ Maldives
Visit the Maldives on your next summer holiday, visit www.maldivesdivetravel.com
Down Town Cafe can be found in a narrow street inside commercial area. It offers the best tasting local delicacies in town in my opinion. Take an adventure and wander around the Male’
Their menu as can be expected a long list of local, Thai, Chinese, Indian, Continental, Italian, Mexican and other international cuisine, It is no secret that the Maldives is a culinary melting pot. Food is really delightful, staff is efficient & friendly. When they came to know that I am from Pakistan so i used to get a special treatment. As i have already mentioned that Maldivians greatly respect Pakistani people.
Down Town Cafe is a great place for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, desserts or snacking and lounging around. Many young people and business men come to Down Town cafe to enjoy their delicious food.
Favorite Dish: Try their Banana shake . It costs 15 Ruffiya (Appox $1) but taste is really good. The best was fresh pineapple just in 12 Ruffiya ( $ 1). Their Nasi Gorang costing 30 Ruffiya ( $ 2.5) was the best ever i had in Maldives. Chinese fried chicken noodles costing 20 Ruffiya ( $ 1.5 appox) were also delicious.
Maldives is blessed with delicious bananas, pine apple and papaya. Tropical fruits from a tropical paradise. It is amazing!

Popular snacks in the Maldives!
To know more about the Maldives, Visit www.wwwmaldives.com
The majority of hotels and restaurants in Malé offer a combination of Eastern and Western specialities. Cafés in Malé are known as ‘hotaa’ and are a great place to get some local food and drink. Traditional Maldivian food is spicy, although not quite as spicy as in its neighbouring countries. They usually contain rice, fish broth, or garudhiya, and side dishes such as chilli, onions and lime. Curries are called riha and are quite popular, and eaten with both rice and roshi, which is unleavened flat bread similar to the Indian roti. Snacks are called hedhikaa and are usually deep fried fish-based items that are commonly found in Maldives restaurants.
- mas huni – smoked fish that is shredded and mixed with onions and grated coconuts. (This is the most common Maldivian breakfast dish)
- fihunu mas – barbequed fish marinated with chilli
- bajiyaa – stuffed pastry with fish, onions and coconut
- gulha – stuffed pastry balls with smoked fish
- keemia – fish rolls that are deep fried
- kulhi boakibaa – a spicy fish cake
- masroshi – mas huni which is wrapped in a roshi bread and then baked
- theluli mas – fried fish with garlic and chilli

Right by the beach overlooking the neighbouring island of Dhiffushi is where guests can find The Asian Wok.
Book your next summer holiday here and visit the Maldives! Go to www.maldivesdivetravel.com
The mecca of Asian cuisine here in the Maldives. The Asian Wok is one of the Maldives more popular Asian restaurants. The restaurant is famous for their takes on local Maldivian dishes, Sri Lankan, Mongolian and of course Chinese! Upon arriving you get filled with excitement because the aroma starts to invade your senses and your stomach starts wobbling around with joy. The restaurant sported a nice al fresco dining experience under the stars which was a nice distraction while we were waiting for our food.
We ordered stir fried yellow noodles with vegetables, Kutti Rothi which is a kind of stir fried bread with vegetables, Crispy fried tofu which was simple but surprisingly great tasting, a special kind of rice that smelled really nice was served along with a whole plethora of vegetarian fares for our Hindu friend Anil. For me the ultimate surprise was how good the vegetarian dishes were! they were infused with the taste of meat or by some kind of sauce but it was delightful. Stuffing yourself with light vegetables and tofu instead of oily meat is much for satisfying this time around. Don’t get me wrong I am a huge fan of meaty dishes, but today I may consider going veg if the food is this good back home. Another popular fare at the Asian Wok is their iced coffee, it is a good refreshment at any time of the day. It perks you up and cools you down! Ah! the good life! Service was a breeze as can be expect on highly efficient Asian restaurants and the price is really not something you would think about when dining here. I’d pay double and eat here everyday if I could. Good eats!

The Maldives is a tropical island paradise that offers the ultimate island getaway. Island Resorts offer escape and luxury along with the highest level of service. Holidays here are all about no shoes and no news; strolling down or relaxing on the beach, water sports and the exquisite dining, be it on a private beach, your very own sandbar barbecue or in the best restaurants in the world with the freshest and best ingredients. The Maldives offers luxury accommodation like nowhere else and this is no different when it comes dining. Here’s a look at some of the most exotic dining locations to choose from:
Ithaa Underwater Restaurant, Conrad Maldives Hotel
Situated 15 feet below the surface of the Indian Ocean, this is the only all-glass, undersea, aquarium style restaurant on the planet. Surrounded by the world famous Maldivian coral reef on all sides, dine while manta rays and other exotic, colourful marine life glide by. The restaurant only seats fourteen diners per service so is extremely exclusive. The food at the restaurant is as good as the surroundings serving a world-class fusion of Maldivian and Western cuisines. The restaurant is also famed for its champagne selection and cocktails and each diner is presented a genuine fresh pearl.
The 24 Degrees, Taj Exotica Resort & Spa
A far more casual dining experience than Ithaa but by no means casual in its service and quality. The chefs here offer to personalise any dish and this al fresco restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. 24 Degrees is famed for its traditional Maldivian breakfast dishes but the curries available on the pan-Asian evening menu are what draw people from all over the islands. The traditional Maldivian vegetable curry is a popular choice and the desserts here are worth more than just a mention. Everything is cooked before your eyes in the display kitchen and you can be sure you’ll be getting magnificently prepared food made from the finest and freshest ingredients.
The Ocean Pavilion
If you want the most romantic and personalised dining experience available in the Maldives, arrange a meal for two in The Ocean Pavilion. This stunning dinner setting is located around a mile off the coast and surrounded by the Indian Ocean on all sides. It is only reachable by boat and once booked you’ll be chauffeur sailed to the venue and left with a mobile phone so you can arrange to be collected. The set menu features a chilled selection including caviar, lobster and champagne and the decor is littered with candles, big cushions and flowers making it the most magically romantic setting.

Dining At The Soneva Gili And The Wonderful Over-Water Bar And Lounge
Here, guests of the Soneva Gili shall experience true paradise. The wonderful scenery and experience should be as good as the food. The dining is as good as it gets, we were able to request for a moonlit dinner on our villa and the Main restaurant is just so delightful. The Main Restaurant of the Soneva Gili is located at the west side of the Lakanfushi, has an amazing breakfast menu and of course is able to fill in the requests of those discerning gourmands. The Over-Water Bar and Lounge and is glorious, the mere sight of the establishment will send you to excitement. It offers light meals and a lunch buffet of Mediterranean, fresh of the garden salad, daily fish catch, a delightful array of imported meats and my personal favorite sushi The Over-Water Bar and Lounge is a great place to just be in even with no apparent reason, live slow no shoes; thats what the Maldives is all about. But my favorite part is the customizable menu on the Over-Water Bar and Lounge its like anything you can think of then you order then there is this excitement on what will arrive on your plate, I can probably do that all day and everyday; its just so much fun! For those who want a little at-home dining experience, we recommend the Private Villa Barbecue service. Oh that glorious meat and seafood while lounging away with drinks at the privacy of your own villa. It does not get any better than that.

Nasi Goreng is a traditional dish that is very popular in the Maldives
For more about the Maldives. Visit www.maldivesdivetravel.com
The Nasi Goreng or “Indonesian Fried Rice” is a dish of both Malaysian and Indian origin. It is made with dark or brown rice with has a higher fiber content than regular white rice and dark rice is also considered to be farmed organically. The rice is stir fried and fused with the flavors of chicken, beef, local herbs a special sauce, fried egg and red chillies. The nasi goreng looks plain and uninviting at first glance much like the famed Singaporean dish Chicken with White Rice. But all that is about to change after the first bite you cant just get enough!
Where can you enjoy Nasi Goreng in the Maldives.
Typically Nasi Goreng can be found almost everywhere in the Maldives, Much like burgers and fries in the United States. But one particular place makes a particularly mouth watering upon thinking about it Nasi Goreng. The Down Town Cafe just around the northern beach area serves great Nasi Goreng!
