It was my first time to travel to the Maldives and as soon as I saw the island, I was instantly captivated by the beautiful setting. I never thought of seeing such beauty as I’ve had seen in advertisments and brochures. As soon as I got to my room where the great facilities never really mattered since I was in an island anyway, I stepped outside and took refuge there instead. I’ve been to various resorts and so far my experience here would be counted as one of the best.
The island was fairly expansive and the deluxe room was sufficient enough to fit my needs which are basically a shower, a telephone, and a table to dine on. The staff was very polite and the food was good. The weather had suited my stay there even if I was out of the season and I don’t even think the rain would bother me at all. The snorkeling was excellent and I couldn’t wait for my next trip back and gear up for some scuba action.

I tend to be quite cynical when listening to my friends talk about this place but being there had just blown me away. The First Choice flight was great. It’s harmonious flight had prepped me for what we are about to land on. The location is just perfect as it was far from the contemporary atmosphere of the city, completely the opposite, if you’re really looking for an ample vacation. The bugalows were enough for us and as they’ve said, paying more for the accomodation wouldn’t get your money’s worth since you’re staying in a beach anyway.
I am a frequent scuba diver and the water here is ok. The visibility is clear and the corals were great but nothing extraordinary. The sand, though, was excellent. There were various choices of food from which you can choose on different days so you wouldn’t get sick and tired of the same specialty that you’ve been craving on. I’m looking forward to coming back here as soon as the prices are still reasonable.

My wife and I had just came from Vilamendhoo last March. My complements to the First Choice airlines for the great flight on the way. I heard about this island from a friend of mine who had all the greatest things to say about the place and true enough, he wasn’t kidding as he usually is. Vilamendhoo is reviewed as one of the best islands to snorkel around and not to mention, to scuba dive in also. We had a great time and the staff was very polite. The spa was excellent because they gave us great massages. During the night, I would recommend the SunSetBar if you’re looking for a great time or would want to dance around a bit during disco nights. The food was great especially if you’re quite fond of spicy recipies which offers a wide variety of different specialties and of different categories. You must be aware of the insects there, though. It would be better to have brought repellants or coils for us to use during the night. Nonetheless, we had a very great and memorable time in the island and our special thanks to Cyrus, the manager.

We went to Vilamendhoo with my friends last 2008 and the weather was very suitable for our stay there. The underwater scene is fantastic and the beach was great, with its fine sands, trees, benches, friendly locals, and the view was extraordinary. We stayed in room 104 and it was absolutely one of the best that I’ve stayed in. It was detached, had a good view of the beach, and the best part was the outside bathroom which was quite a new experience for me. The food was great and the bars were awesome. Snorkeling was excellent brought by the clear, torquoise waters which I never could’ve imagined. I just hope nothing changes in this island the next time we come back and spend our next vacation. It’s a great reccommendation for my friends who are planning to experience a different and extraordinary island atmosphere. During my stay, I’ve never been so relaxed and comfortable. The view of the island itself was quite therapeutic and eases the tension brought about by the chaotic city life. It’s a perfect getaway.

Our trip in Vilamendhoo was fantastic. The flight was calm and when we reached the island, we were given a warm welcome by the staff. The services and accomodation were great as well as the food and drinks. We had much fun at the Sunset Bar where we were able to indulge in the local cocktails for reasonable prices and they were all good. The bungalow we stayed in was sufficient and comfortable. We loved the massages in the spa, which matches the tranquil atmosphere of the island. The water was perfect for snorkelling and scuba diving. Its fair visibility would make you appreciate the details of the fishes and corals. I loved the sand, very fine and bright. I rarely had tried fishing but my experience in Vilamendhoo was just plainly fun. The trees had also contributed a lot in the islands beauty and the view was fascinating. I had a great time in Vilamendhoo and I really got my money’s worth.

  7. I just wanted to add a short review to the above. We have been to Vilamendhoo 4 times, with 2 teenagers. We enjoy a different holiday experience every time. We are welcomed as friends and it is good to see the same staff .
Vilamendhoo is undergoing refurbishment this year and has been closed down from April to December I am led to believe. The island as we know it gives one everything you need for a chilled holiday. You can have privacy on the beautiful beaches, you can socialise at the bar if you wish. The maldivans (although some are Srilankans) want you to have a good time, however you wish to spend you holiday. It is sad to say, that water bungalows are being introduced to the island. We hope this does not spoil the ambiance of the island, by making it too busy. The island has been taken over by its sister island owners ‘Meeru’ Island and looks to be revamped in the same way.Vilamendhoo, don’t loose your charm. The snorkelling, food, and peaceful atmostphere is a perfect blend for a holiday.
